Can all be scheduled in one day, over consecutive days or session by session to suit.

The ‘Try Rowing’ Session is the perfect way to be introduced to rowing a single scull. The session covers safety, launching and recovering and an introduction to the basic movement pattern. Instructor towing is an option available for any particularly nervous beginners.

‘Try Rowing’ gives you the opportunity to get a taste to see if coastal rowing is for you.

We encourage anyone new to rowing to watch this World Rowing Essential Sculling Technique video and also the Intro using our own Online Learn to Row Glide Solo Guide.

This course is the pre-requisite and Session 1 of our Learn to Row programme and is only offered on a 1:1 for safe assessment and efficient progression.

This continuation session focuses on the basic skills of manoeuvring and balance in a single or double scull. We will guide you through the basic British Rowing Omnium Skills in sheltered water.

The aim of these sessions is to prepare you to ‘scull in a single’ safely and effectively and to experience the ‘glide’. It prepares you for ‘Session 3: Competence in Balance and Space’.

This continuation session focuses on progressing the skills of manoeuvring and balance. You will revise and advance the ‘Space and Balance’ skills learned in Session 2 to challenge efficiency of your sculling stroke.

The aim of these sessions is to prepare you to ‘scull in a single or double ’ safely and competently, harnessing the technique for a strong and relaxed glide.

It prepares you for your final Learn to Row Session 4: Passport to Explore to access all other Rowing Adventure EXPLORE options.

This session aims to fully assess your sea skills to safely and efficiently single scull in open water to attain the PASSPORT to EXPLORE. This gives you access to Adventure Rowing, Skill Development and RowFit in the Lite Duo.

We encourage you to complete a capsize and recovery drill in summer sessions, to give you the confidence to get back in the boat should you wish to go for a swim!

To supplement your Learn Programme, practice the skills you have been taught in your 1:1 sessions in the safety of a traffic free lagoon, to help consolidate and progress to your next level as smoothly as possible.

A qualified coach will be present on the pontoon and a mentor coach will always be afloat for support.

NB: Minimum of 2 rowers required for this session or you will be offered the 1:1 cost option instead

On completion of your Learn to Row Programme you will gain your Passport to our Explore programme to continue developing your skills whilst Adventuring on the Solent at Sunrise and Sunset.”
